ARCHITECTS DEDICATED TO ARTS, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY |
Biography
Founded in 1996, Piper-Wind Architects is an award winning full-service general practice firm located in the Crossroads District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Specializing in renovations, new residential, education, commercial, historic preservation, institutional, public and civic projects of all kinds, we are fanatical about restoring and maintaining vintage buildings as a means of preserving connections to the past and to our heritage. We are, at the same time, history buffs and contemporary architects, so we enjoy the challenge of adaptive reuse, in addition to historic preservation projects. Expertise in the Secretary of State’s Standards, preservation technology best practices, and both the Federal and Missouri State Historic Tax Credit application / certification processes, PWA has successfully led many projects through the initial condition assessment, planning, design, application and certification tax credit process. We are also one of the area’s leading architects in restoring Kansas City’s finest and most gracious residential properties in historic neighborhoods, ranging from small renovations to large estates, as well as new homes to fit within historic neighborhoods.
Founding partner Eric Piper focuses primarily on renovation, adaptive reuse and preservation projects for both public and private clients. Currently a board member and officer of Historic Kansas City, he is knowledgeable in neighborhood preservation and urban planning, and considered and expert in adapting historic structures to persons with disabilities.
