This directory is intended to help the general public find people with expertise in various aspects of historic preservation, be it planning, design, development, financing, tax credits, National Register nominations or accounting as well as museums, venues and other preservation or history-related organizations. The directory is made up of major donors to our organization and is intended to recognize these people and companies for their generosity to the cause of historic preservation in Missouri. It is NOT AN ENDORSEMENT of any of the companies or individuals mentioned.

Farnsworth Group is passionate about historic preservation. As a full-service architect / engineer firm with a large office in Webster Groves, Missouri (together with a project office in St. Charles, Missouri), we have been a trusted advisor to both public and private agency clients for well over a century. During the last decade alone, we have had the privilege of working on over 75 historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects, many of which are either National Register properties, or contributing properties in National Register Districts. In 2021, we were honored and delighted to receive a Missouri Preservation award for our historic rehabilitation of Thunderbird Lodge at Missouri’s Washington State Park.

Enjoy our free parking lot and take a guided tour of the historic house where you will learn about Eugene Field, the “Children’s Poet”, and his father, Roswell Field, an attorney on the Dred Scott case. Our docents will entertain you with family stories as you immerse yourself in nineteenth century St. Louis. After your tour we invite you to enjoy our expansion where we have rotating exhibit spaces, the Eugene Field Library, and our museum gift shop.

Biography
The Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization that was founded in 1967 with the expressed purpose of promoting preservation and restoration of historic structures and other property that illustrate Ste. Genevieve’s early history and culture. The Foundation also supports the acquisition of knowledge concerning the early settlements and its people by maintaining and sharing the area’s history with the public.
In order to accomplish our mission, the Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve:

Maintains and presents the 1806 Jacques Guibourd Historic House, a registered NRHP Site, and provides public tours, events & services.

Maintains and presents the 1813 Kiel Schwent historic house as its administrative office, and the location of the Mecker Research Library on its premises, as a source of information on the history of the area.

Manages the restoration and upkeep of Ste. Genevieve’s Memorial Cemetery.

Provides guidance and assistance to individuals, organizations, and governments desiring to preserve and restore Ste. Genevieve’s historic structures.

Promotes tourism as a means to preserve Ste. Genevieve’s French Colonial History.

Is the sponsoring organization for the annual events of the King’s Ball, the Deja Vu Spirit Re- union in Memorial Cemetery, and the Fall History Conference.

Maintains a Speakers Bureau presenting informative presentations on the area, its people and customs at no cost for non profit organizations.

Provides educational awards to stimulate further interest in the area of historic preservation.
