Joplin Historical Neighborhoods
At the age of 23, Michael purchased his first historic building located in a small river town between Hermann and Jefferson City, Missouri. It was the winter before the Great Flood of 1993 that brought ravaging waters to eastern Missouri. The tragedy of that summer helped shape his focus on architecture and how he could contribute to the needs of a community. Michael has worked in architecture and planning firms in both Kansas City and St. Louis for the past 25 years, gaining experience in the fields of architecture, community development, and historic preservation. Michael believes comprehensive design, planning, and architecture can improve living standards and the quality of life in a community. He was hired in 2017 as the preservation architect for Joplin Historical Neighborhoods, Inc. and has relocated to the Joplin community.
