John has been actively involved in the world of preservation for over 15 years, and what started as a hobby 5 years ago has now become a full-time career as John has left the corporate world and is working full-time as a restoration contractor. It was during his time as a Main Street Manager and Executive Director of the 2nd largest historic district in Louisiana (after the French Quarter) that John heard more and more about how difficult it was to locate qualified craftspeople to take on these projects — months would be spent working with owners on funding sources and design approvals, and then the project would be threatened with lackluster work or a complete lack of finding contractors. Having already been working on various aspects of old house restoration on his personal home, word quickly spread and requests began to come in to do work for other local owners.
After visiting Missouri for the first time about 5 years ago, the Rodgers family fell in love and decided to move the family and company north from Louisiana. John currently resides in Saint Joseph with his photographer wife Ramona and their 7-year old restoration apprentice Ethan, where together they are working to restore an 1867 country home (with a 1920 Neo-classical renovation) and an intact 1868 second empire Victorian
