Brad has made it his life’s mission to create greater public awareness on the importance of local history. As a thirtyoneyear practicing public historian he has worked in numerous capacities as an author, educator, guest speaker, archivist, historian, exhibit designer, conservator, tour guide, historical film consultant, script writer, director, and producer. Brad has written seven books, co-authored four, and appeared, produced, or script-consulted on 30 historical films and documentaries. Brad served as the director of the Joplin Historical & Mineral Museums, Inc. for 30 years. To recognize his dedication and contributions to the museum, he was awarded the title of Director Emeritus. In 2017, he was hired as the community historian for Missouri Southern State University and the preservation director and curator of Joplin Historical Neighborhoods, Inc.
